Erosion-Corrosion

Erosion-Corrosion - a conjoint action involving erosion and corrosion in the presence of a moving corrosive fluid or a material moving through the fluid, leading to accelerated loss of material. [1]

Erosion-Corrosion involves the degradation of materials resulting from relatively rapid movement between a metallic surface and a fluid.

This type of corrosion can affect most metals. Many fluid types can be implicated in Erosion-Corrosion. The damaged surface may contain grooves that exhibit a directional dependance.
